Henry the Rooster

When we moved to this new farm we saw the big red barn and the land and we knew we wanted to increase our dream to provide quality holistic products and services that supported whole self-wellness. We wanted to further align to the House of Rae core vision.
House of Rae has been aligning people through coaching, counselling, workshops and published books have been paired with holistic whole self approaches to wellness with herbs, tinctures, teas, and natural products. Yet there was more to be seen when we found the farm.
We walked through the house the day we got the keys with excitement as anyone would have, yet there was the most curious thing to see on one of the walls. The name HENRY was written in big bold letters.
This was my Dad's name, and my Grandfather's name. Interesting. Yet more curious was that my parents had just put an offer on a house only 3 minutes away from this new home we just acquired keys to. An offer that would bring them 1200 km's closer to us, and here in our new home was my Dad's name, as if he was already here.
Only 2 weeks in to us unpacking, a Rooster was brought home. He was being bullied at a local farm and they asked if we would take him home to our farm. We were barely unpacked and here we were entertaining a rooster.
His tail feathers flopped, missing a toe, and his spirits low, he came to our farm wounded. Yet it wasn't long that with our morning treats, our loving tones, and the prime real estate he had as the singular rooster on site, our new Rooster was making himself not only at home; but growing a new confidence that only love can nurture.
As our new rooster was settling in, so were we. Many things to do and also many things to sell. Items that just didn't fit in the new space had to be sold and so we listed them on marketplace looking for good hearted buyers.
One such buyer was found for a larger cabinet which was being picked up one sunny afternoon. The couple was lamenting about our rooster and how happy he looked. The woman said, "What is his name?" I replied, "He doesn't have one yet, we just got him a few days ago."
She looked at the rooster with her hands on her hips and said, "Henry. His name should be Henry."
With a burst of laughter I told her how strange it was that she would say that name, telling her about my Father and the name written on the wall in our new home. She said, "Well then clearly that's his name!! And it's strange too, because I don't even know a Henry. It's like that name just popped in my head!"
And so, our new rooster became, HENRY that very moment. Which only illuminated his wonder even more. This rooster had SOUL.
We came to learn that Henry is the most gentle, kind, and personality filled Rooster that one will ever meet. He makes your heart BLOOM with joy when you see him as he runs around the yard, pecks at the greens, and comes to the door every morning for his treats.
He coos and sings and crows in ways that I have never heard before from a rooster. He also believes that he should be wherever you are. And that means IN the house. If you leave the door open, you can be sure that he will find his way in to see what you are doing. And we swear to you; he winks and smiles as though he has a secret to tell and a story to write.
Our farm added hens and chicks to the mix and our Henry guards them fiercely, even warding off a Momma Bear and 3 cubs! He is the prince here and he knows it and though he may have been bullied, he isn't going to let anything hurt HIS farm family.
Henry and the farm's dog haven't quite got past the stage of deciding who is in charge yet however, nor how to distinguish what "play" is. Our farm dog thinks that play is a good chase while Henry thinks that parading around stoutly is more effective form of play as a taunting technique. So for now, they sit on either side of the fence and look at each other speaking with glances.
When you come to pick up your BLOOMING ROOSTER order, you will likely meet Henry and immediately fall in love as we all have here. He will help your heart bloom in ways that only the gentleness of love and acceptance can do.
Here at Blooming Rooster, Henry is adored and accepted as he is, with a missing toe and a floppy tail. Which is exactly what our farm desires to provide as the undertone of all we do in service to others.
To not only provide holistic and whole self products and services, but to provide a place for community to grow and the true identity of Self to be inspired. Henry is our Blooming Rooster, and we know he can inspire a whole lot of love to be grown in everyone he meets.
